What's the Difference Between the Missouri Notary Stamp and the Expiration Date Stamp?
Expiration Date Stamp
The Expiration Date Stamp and the Missouri Notary Stamp may look to be the same stamp (well, they are the same design), they hold very different information.
The Expiration Date Stamp does provide an alternative option to the standard Notary Stamp for Missouri notaries, but it must be used in conjunction with a notary embosser to meet state requirements. The Expiration Date Stamp simply has, like the name suggests, the date your commission expires as well as your commission number; you still need a seal to make the notarial act valid.
Missouri Notary Stamp
The Missouri Notary Stamp has your commission information and the state seal in one stamp—allowing you to only use it in your notarial acts.
You, as the notary public, can decide which method you wish to use. Some prefer the recognition that the embossed seal warrants, and others prefer the simplicity of only having one stamp.
As mentioned before, the stamps are the same design and product—the stamp insert will just have different information. The color choices between the two stamps differ as well. The Expiration Date Stamp is slightly smaller and comes in red, black, blue, fuchsia, green, grey and white, while the Missouri Notary Stamp has the case color options of red, black, blue, fuchsia, green, grey, white, pink, purple, mint, mango and lilac.
